This week 10 years ago Diddy had us all aboard his experimental trip Last Train to Paris alongside the duo Dirty Money. Dirty Money was the combination of Dawn Richards, former member of Danity Kane, and singer-songwriter Kaleena Harper.
According to Diddy it all came together over three years because, "he wanted to tell a love story" and Dirty Money was needed because "he couldn't just tell the male's point of view."
The album was a combination of Hip Hop and a variety of European dance elements. It arrived at a time when dance music and hip hop were certainly merging in mainstream and was directly influenced by Diddy's time in that world, famed in Ibiza, interacting with the likes of Felix da Housecat and DJ Hell. It featured a variety of guests including Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Trey Songz, Usher, Sevyn Streeter and Rick Ross.
6 singles were produced with the biggest impact worldwide from "Coming Home" which featured Skylar Grey and peaked in the Top 10 in a number of countries.
Unfortunately, even with the positive reviews and success this album would be the trio's only project. Dirty Money officially disbanded in 2012.
"It died out. I think Puff was tired. He had so many different things going on. I think he wanted to produce and act a little bit more. Sometimes you don't have a choice. If we would have wanted to continue, and he couldn't do it, then there'd be no sense in it. It's his project so you just have to take it," said former member Dawn Richard.
