Unappreciated is the first studio album from girl group Cherish. This weekend marks its 15th anniversary. Cherish was made up of four sisters, consisting of twins Felisha and Fallon along with their older sisters Farrah and Neosha. The album was produced by Jermaine Dupri and the sisters co-wrote every song on the project.
While the entire album didn't chart here in New Zealand it's first single "Do It To It" was a major smash peaking at #3 on the RMNZ chart. "Do It To It" charted higher in New Zealand than any other country in the world. It also features Sean Paul from the rap group YoungBloodz.
The 2nd single from the project was the title track "Unappreciated." It's a song that highlights a relationship where one partner is feeling taken for granted.
Unappreciated is a solid debut. We're not going to overhype it and call it classic or iconic but as a fan of R&B it is certainly enjoyable. The sisters of Cherish can produce some nice vocals.
Cherish would go on to release a 2nd album titled The Truth in 2008. It wouldn't capture the same success as their debut. Unfortunately Cherish is a group that suffered from an industry dealing with some major shifts and changes. Farrah and Neosha have left the group but the twins have found success in the past decade writing and producing for other artists. Fallon and Felisha were recently featured on the BET series The Encore which saw 9 former members of girl groups come together for a special project.
Seriously though if you are a fan of vocals and some solid 2000s midtempo R&B then Unappreciated, the debut album from Cherish, is worth an experience for it's 15th anniversary.
