Cancel your weekend plans. Multiple GRAMMY Award winners Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak want to take you out for date night. Yes, it's finally here. With help from special guest Bootsy Collins, the iconic duo (AKA Silk Sonic) have released their eagerly-awaited debut album An Evening With Silk Sonic.
The feel-good album includes three previously released singles Leave The Door Open, Skate and the recent Smokin Out The Window and five unheard tracks. You'll be spinning this album on repeat 'til after Christmas.
Just last week, the album was heralded by Smokin Out The Window, the third single from the grooviest duo of the 21st century.
Smokin Out The Window is so smooth, it's like rubbing silk on your ears. The two pitch-perfect powerhouses harmonize over gold diggers and heartache, as the groove glides to it's smoky climax.
Like Silk Sonic's previous releases, Smokin Out The Window will transport you to a funkier, more soulful era. With honeyed backing vocals and big, swooning, 70's slow-jam vibes infused throughout the musical arrangement, Smokin Out The Window is an immediately catchy ballad.
The accompanying visual is peppered with just the right amount of Silk's signature charming ridiculousness.
Smokin Out The Window joins previously released hits Skate and Leave The Door Open, all of which will feature on their album.
Silk Sonic introduced Leave The Door Open alongside an official music video directed by Mars and Florent Déchard, which won Best R&B Video and Best Editing at the 2021 MTV Music Video Awards.
Leave The Door Open became Silk Sonic’s first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, and was a #1 hit here in New Zealand too.
The duo coasted into the release of their sophomore single Skate.
The boys serenade a smooth skate crew in the summertime vacation-vibe visual directed by Bruno Mars and Florent Déchard and co-directed by Philippe Tayag.
The seeds of the Silk Sonic collaboration were planted in 2017 when Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars toured together on the European leg of his 24K Magic World Tour. One late-night jam session on the road unlocked immediate chemistry. Just before the world slipped into quarantine, Bruno called Anderson: “Remember that idea we had back in 2017? Let’s do it.”
One studio session grew into to a months-long collaboration, culminating the “setlist of doom.” Legendary Bootsy Collins christened Silk Sonic and came in as the “special guest host” for their debut album.
And now, it's finally here.
So put on something nice, pour yourself something sweet and treat yourself to An Evening With Silk Sonic.
