Carl E. Thompson, better known as Chucky Thompson, died of Covid complications Monday in the United States. He was a member of Bad Boy Entertainment's "Hitmen" team of in-house producers that helped make it one of the preeminent labels of the 90s. He produced for a variety of artists, most notably Mary J. Blige and her My Life album, also including Usher, Notorious B.I.G., Total, Faith Evans and Nas.
Born in A native of Washington, DC, Thompson was introduced to by a friend to their cousin who happened to be Puff Daddy. Thompson's versatility made him an ideal collaborator for the start-up label Puff had in mind. He was certainly one of the architects that made the R&B/Hip-Hop hybrid sound that defined the mid 90s popular.
