This weekend marks the 20th anniversary for the 3rd studio album from R&B group Jagged Edge titled Jagged Little Thrill. The albums title was a spin on Alanis Morissettes' classic Jagged Little Pill.
While thought to be not as successful as their sophomore album J.E. Heartbreak, Jagged Little Thrill did produce one of the groups signature songs "Where The Party At" featuring Nelly.
As the lead single "Where The Party At" peaked at #33 on the NZ Top 40. It is certainly a summer/party jam that will never get old. It was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 44th Grammy Awards in 2002. A remix of the song was also made for the Hardball soundtrack. It added features from Da Brat, Lil Bow Wow, R.O.C. and Tigah.
The second single from the album was the ballad "Goodbye." This song was released in the months following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in the United States. The video reflects the times with a soldier spending his last day with his family before heading off to war. In terms of a story it is arguably one of the groups best videos.
A third single was released. There was a song called "I Got It" on the album which features rapper Trina. For the single it was remade with rapper Nas and titled "I Got It 2."
Jagged Little Thrill is the only album from Jagged Edge that has charted in New Zealand. It peaked at #37 on the NZ Albums chart.
