Capitalizing on the Verzuz against Gucci Mane, Jeezy released his tenth studio album. It falls in line thematically like its predecessor The Recession reflecting current times. Jeezy pays homage as a grown man to the environment that raised him and got him to where he is as a success. Other themes touched by the rapper include the lives of those killed by police, desires for success, and staying strong even touching on therapy to deal with all that’s going on in one’s world. He explained, “it just really inspired me to touch on some of that, but at the same time, motivate my people and give them something to help then through these times and to celebrate, because the shift is happening”.
The 15-track album includes appearances from Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, E-40, Yo Gotti and Demi Lovato.
The flow of beats is smooth. Feels like it could’ve been the soundtrack to a 70s era Blaxploitation film. Not too much up tempo found here. It’s easy riding music you can put on for a nice drive and experience Jeezy gliding along with his lyrics.
