When you think of Pink Sweat$, gorgeously soothing ballads come to mind.
Equipped with a voice as smooth as butter, the Philadelphia singer's voice always takes centre stage on his own music - a powerful presence that captivates and demands his listeners’ attention as he croons about heart-melting tales of love.
Yet whenever Pink decides to hop on a track alongside a fellow artist, he always serves as the perfect complement to his collaborator’s performance. However, it’s also unsurprising how well he pairs with a wide assortment of artists, given how graceful his singing can be. A gentle touch that elevates any collaboration he hops on.
Thus, with his new EP Pink Moon out today, we’d like to take the time to rave about his best music with other artists - collaborations that left us enamoured and thoroughly impressed.
Midnight River (feat. 6lack)
Another lovely acoustic jam to fall in love to from Pink Sweat$. Midnight River is a falsetto-heavy track that sees Pink quietly easing us into his journey of an anxiety-filled romance, before 6lack swiftly enters alongside a wave of drums. He gives the song a jolt of urgency before the two begin harmonising about a vivid time under moonlit sky on a midnight river.
Honesty [Remix] (feat. Jessie Reyez)
The song that introduced the world to Pink Sweat$, Honesty is a sultry R&B track whose strength lies in his velvety vocals, crafting intimate conversation-like narrative for listeners to get lost in.
So employing the help of Jessie Reyez’ signature raspy voice for its remix seemed like a weird idea at first, but hearing her command essentially half of the track with an assured protectiveness of her boo is a refreshing take on the theme of honesty, giving Honesty a brand new perspective and sound to go with it.
17 (feat. Joshua & DK of SEVENTEEN)
Pink has always shown appreciation for all things K-Pop, so for his official collaboration with Joshua and DK of the boyband SEVENTEEN, they made sure to deliver and then some.
Putting the fact that the song and the group share the same name aside, Joshua and DK felt right at home on a Pink Sweat$ track - citing his positive and upbeat outlook to music to be one that they shared and looked up to. Thus their eventual collaboration isn’t one to be surprised about, though we hope we get to even hear more from them in the future!
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? (with Honne)
There aren’t that many buoyant Pink Sweat$ tracks out there, especially ones that make you want to get on your feet and dance the night away. So enter WHAT WOULD YOU DO? off Honne’s latest album.
It’s a sweet song that makes full use of Pink’s infectiously joyful performance, paired it with Honne’s ability to craft catchy melodies - WHAT WOULD YOU DO? can effortlessly stop anyone in their tracks to bop a little.
Insecure (with Bren Joy)
The lead single of the deluxe edition of Bren Joy’s debut album Twenties, Insecure sees Bren deliver a buttery smooth performance on par with Pink’s usual brilliance. It’s a duet that sees them trading verses for a peaceful ballad that plays to both artists’ biggest strengths.
BRB (with Mahalia)
An upbeat soul track, Mahalia’s 2020 quarantine loosie sees her longing for an ex-lover that has moved on. It’s a theme that’s familiar in Pink’s discography, often crooning about a one-sided love that he yearns to rekindle. Thus his performance on BRB is predictably and suitably melancholic - a heartrending tale that never grows old.
