One could call PollyHill a triple threat, the Auckland MC is also a producer and filmmaker. She cites MF DOOM, Bjork, Arca and Kelela as musical influences. Elements of each can be found in her latest EP Post Humorous. All combine to create a unique output of beats and rhymes that create an abstract vibe with a timeless feel. Hip-Hop is well represented here but isn't being confined to a box, yet it is allowed to breath fully with the personality and vision of PollyHill.
The 5 song project features previously released songs "Sweepstakes," which features Church from Church & AP, and "Chilly." The entire project is complex and simple at the same time, its not overly produced yet there are layers and layers of elements not to be missed like the background strings woven into the boom-cat of "Pulling Teeth." Post Humorous is certainly a experience and has us looking forward to what PollyHill will continue to deliver in the near future.
