Yes the rapper wants to open up, but he wants to do so on his own terms.
"With my next project, I'm going to be more vulnerable," he says. "I'm going to bring fans into my world more. I'm learning the balance. Like, OK, I'm not on Instagram, so I feel I've got to bring them into my life more so they can feel me a little more."
Now any fan of Roddy Ricch knows the rapper is on Instagram. He has been teasing fans with snippets of new music over the past year with IG Live by going live, dropping 45 seconds of a record and then stopping the live, all without saying a word. Outside of rare instances like that Roddy certainly has been less active on social media.
"I unfollowed everybody, just to get off the internet," he said. "I unfollowed my closest homies. I be with them all the time, so it ain't like I don't see their life."
All of this is no surprise from an artist to titled his 2019 debut album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial. And it seems he is gearing up for the long-awaited follow-up. Roddy Ricch took the opportunity recently with his Grammy performance to debut his new song "Heartless (Live From L.A.)."
"Coming off one of the biggest albums I could've done, I feel like taking them back to the basics with me," he says.
