With his first full release in three years the California rapper shares a project that takes you on a journey through his childhood in Long Beach and transitioning into who he is today. Vince Staples out on Motown Records displays a vulnerable but knowledgeable side of the artist.
"This project really gives much more information about me that wasn't out there before. That's why I went with that title," says Vince about the album. "I feel like I've been trying to tell the same story. As you go on in life, your point of view changes. This is another take on myself that I might not have had before."
Producer Kenny Beats has a big hand in shaping the journey with beats that represent a classic West Coast funk and allow Vince to paint vivid pictures on top of them. Its a quick listen with the 10 tracks only clocking in around 22 minutes. Check it out below.
